A kaamwaali comes to the house, sweeps and mops the floors, spends about 20 to 30 minutes there, and leaves. During that time, the house members are watching TV or doing something insignificant
There is nothing about sweeping or mopping that the family cannot do themselves. But anyway, if they have money to spend, that’s their wish
The real issue is kaamwaali is treated as an inferior person. She cannot sit on the sofa. She cannot drink water from the same glass as the family. She is expected to know her place, you know what I mean
This is the reality in much of urban India, and most people do not see anything wrong with it
